September is probably my favorite month of the year - yes it's my birthday, but it's also that magical time when summer is coming to an end and fall is just beginning. It's also back to school, and I always feel very nostalgic this time of year - elementary, middle, high school and college - I was always excited to start school (nerd, I know). It's also football season and that means HOKIES!
I'm going to start this blog by listing the 10 things I'm most looking forward to this month:
The Sally Man exhibit at the Reynolds Gallery on the 18th. She has been my favorite photographer since high school. Check out her photo "Girl with a Candy Cigarette," it remains one of my favorites to this day.
Shockoe on the Half Shell on the 13th at the Farmer's Market. Because oysters are the absolutely the best.
Squeezing in one or two more VMFA Friday happy hours. There is nothing like wrapping up a work week on the beautiful patio of Richmond's finest museum.
Completeting the Back to the Barre challenge at Pure Barre! I signed up for 30 classes in 35 days...so pray for me (and my tush).
The UCI Bike Race aka Richmond 2015. While some are hesitant about the impact it may have on our fine city, I for one am so happy that the world gets to see Richmond. Also I fancy myself a bike rider. (Read beach cruiser to happy hour.)
My birthday - because who doesn't want a day dedicated to people showing them how much they love them. Plus ya know, presents! (It's the 22nd, in case you need to write that down somewhere.)
Painting my desk chair. I moved into my apartment a month ago and have several DIY projects still on my plate. Up this month - painting my desk chair baby pink. (Post to come.)
Pulling together my gallery wall. I admire so many other people's gallery walls and I'm excited to get mine up!
Clearing the clutter! With a move comes things you find that you don't really need (tons and tons of clothes). I can't wait for it to be gone. I need to set aside a few hours one weekend to really get it all done. Goals.
Bocce is back! That's right y'all bocce fall season starts September 23 (remember, that's a day after my birthday). I love playing, but I love seeing everyone more.
Bonus : Hokie football starts on the 8th! Let's go...HOKIES! Beat OSU!
So there you have it, my first post. Didn't like it? Don't come back! Sorta liked it? Great! There's more where that came from. I'll focus a lot on Richmond, but also post about whatever I fancy, because, hey it's my blog and I can do what I want!
