I moved back to the Fan recently after my (horrendous) hiatus to NOVA after which I lived in the Libbie/Grove area (not so horrendous). I've lived in the Fan in the past and have always appreciated the "culture." By culture I mean you have beautiful homes tucked in between two apartment buildings with rowdy college kids. The Fan truly is an ecclectic mix of folks.
The first time I lived in the Fan I was young, fresh out of college. Heck, I was that rowdy college kids for all intents and purposes (sorry former neighbors, who by the way had a young child). Now, I'm a grown-up (dear friends who are reading this, don't blow my cover), I actually use my kitchen, I make my bed almost daily, I take care of another living being...feelin' real good about myself right now.
Anyway, with this new adult life I'm leading, I get up at a reasonable time everyday before work and walk my sweet pup - Phoebe, you will meet her later. On these walks I give myself "real estate tours" - hey, gotta keep it interesting. What I've noticed is the AMAZING style of Fan homes. I have especially grown to love the different doors. So now on our walks I act like a tourist and quite literally take pictures of people's front doors. Generally it's in the morning (you'll see a stray newspaper here and there), so no one is out to see my being a creep.
So here's the first batch of RVA doors. Theme this week is green. Don't get too envious (or green with jealousy if we are going for the obvious pun here).

Don't you just want to move your family right in here? This is such a homey looking place. I love the lime door and the oval glass cutout, it's not something I see all the time (remember I check out A LOT of doors).

This home reminds me a color scheme you would find in Charleston (my favorite place ever). I love the forest green contrast with this peachy painted brick. I'd enjoy a nice bourbon drink on that patio anyday.

Love the green and white here. I think the details in the windows really add to this preppy looking home. And I love a good preppy moment. I don't hate the pop of pink from the tree above either.
Hope you enjoyed this first installment of one of my favorite daily activities - Fan house stalking.
Until next time!
Cheers,
AS
