Oysters and Beer : A Perfect Day

Do you really need more information?
OK fine. This past Sunday was Shockoe on the Half Shell. About every 2 days I feel like there is a festival of some sort going on in RVA. From my all time favorite Greek Festival to some vegetarian festival (no judgement, just not my thing).
This was my first time attending Shockoe on the Half Shell, but I pretty much knew what to expect. Typical Farmer's Market festival : beer, food, music. Trust me, I'm not complaining because those three elements are pretty much a perfect day for me. However, I was not expecting the line for the raw oysters to be three miles long! (Extreme exaggeration, but I wanted you to feel my pain.) Good thing I love oysters.

Sitting on the curb enjoying our cold beers.
The long line was for the only raw oysters left at the festival (we got there late), served by Rappahannock Oyster Company. Smart as we were, we got our beer to stand in line. Brillant I tell ya! Makes the mile long line bareable. Worth it! We got 8 raw oysters each and a filler-free crabcake! OMG so amazing. I could eat oysters everyday, these I'd eat twice a day.

Delicious oysters and crabcake.
We went around to the other (much shorter) lines for different vendors. We tried fried oysters (chicken fingers) and roasted oysters (warm raw oysters). I say raw is still the best, but we had a great time trying everything.
The day had threatening rain, but it held off. We enjoyed the live music and people watching (best past time ever). Certainly a festival to go back to!
