Why I Love My Birthday

I get to really appreciate all the amazing people I have in my life
My birthday falls on or around the beginning of fall, which is a magical time of year
I always take a chance to look back on the last year to see how I’ve changed
It feels like a fresh start
Presents! (That’s not selfish, everyone loves presents)

First day of fall. Wind in my hair vibes.
One downside-turning a year older...
This year I got to celebrate for nearly a week! (Mama taught me well.) Saturday was all about friends and fun. I got a group of friends together to go bowling. Some of us shined, others were schooled by the birthday party next to us (average age of 14). But it was an all around good time with many laughs and beers consumed!
Sunday my family came over to celebrate, see my apartment and meet my bf (sprung on all parties involved). My parents, sister, her boyfriend, and two sets of aunts and uncles (plus sweet Lexi dog) spent the afternoon enjoying apps and each others company. Blaine survived the inquisition.
Sunday night Blaine took me out to Rappahannock Oyster Co. It was a special date night and oh so delicious! (You know I love oysters.) We enjoyed dinner and a nice bottle of wine and each others company (I think). After dinner, we walked to Penny Lane Pub. My first time there! I felt like it was a very authentic English soccer pub, but what do I know, I’m just a very authentic American. We had a great night trying new things!
Tuesday, my actual birthday, started pretty normal - barre, breakfast and a walk with Phoebe before work, but my sweet co-worker took me out to lunch which was a nice surprise! (I chose Chipotle, duh!)
Tuesday night, my mom, dad and sister picked me up and took me to The Boathouse. I had been only one other time for brunch. I KNEW the view was amazing and had heard the food was equally good. As you may have gathered at this point, I’m a seafood fan, so this place was right in my wheelhouse. I consumed enough food from the raw bar to last me awhile (or ya know, like tomorrow when I’m craving oysters again).

After The Boathouse, I met up with my girlfriends at the new Quirk Hotel for a few libations. Quirk just opened last week and I had been greatly anticipating my visit. I certainly was not disappointed. From the grand architecture down to the champagne flutes, I’d like to just stay please. A night out with my ladies is always fun, but last night was super special to have them with me to reminisce on the past and look forward to the future. (Yea, yea it’s cheesy, but whatever this is my blog and I’ll write what I want.)

What a wonderful birthday filled with love, fun and bubbles!

Enjoying some bubbles at Quirk.
