Apartment Hacks : Work Space

It's been on my list, but it became a dumping ground. A place to put whatever did not go anywhere else. That needed to change. I love organizing but this space just wouldn't motivate me. So I employed my sister. She is my mini, better version of me, and has the cutest blog - Peonies & Perfume. Anyway, I called her up, told her what I wanted to do and like the good sister she is, said "great, when?"
I gave us a budget of $50 (OK, I told her $50 so she wouldn't go crazy, but in all honesty knew we would spend closer to $100). I mostly needed a few updates to the top, something to organize the drawers and something to organize the side mess. I have also been wanting to redo my bulletin board for awhile. So I told her, showed her the damage, and we went...where else? Target!
We had discussed the decor being blush and gold, and honestly, Target was on the same page. They have a very cute collection called Sugar Paper right now. This collection was exactly what I was looking for - the exact colors and style. I bought the desk calendar, padfolio and planner (also secrectly considering buying, like, all of it).
We also bought cute tacks to redo the bulletin board and I'm not embarassed about this, shopped in the bathroom section for the pencil case (makeup brush holder) and tray (not the exact one, but very similar)! I got new file folders and a folder holder from Nate Berkus (currently in the mail/not pictured) too!
Our next stop was Jo Ann Fabric for a cheap, but nice piece of fabric. We found an awesome blush color fabric, exactly what I was picturing. (I also got a new white wooden crate for bathroom storage.)
Once we were done with the shopping...the organization. It was mostly my sister "OMG why do you have this"...and me just rolling my eyes. But we are a good team and got it done pretty quick, including redoing the board (staples, ruler, two people, done).
So here it is. The final results:
The Sugar Paper Padfolio, Nate Berkus "pencil holder" and more.
Full frontal
My new DIY bulletin board (under $10) and my awesome RVA calendar from my BFF.
The before disaster.
