This first week of January is packed with new! Of course there is a lot of food and beer (because we are Richmond after all), there is also an amazing article on the Ukrop family. I hope everyone survived their first full week in what feels like an eternity! Happy reading.

Phoebe gazing out at one of our favorite RVA spots, Byrd Park, recently named a state landmark

  1. This story is a little older, but I still wanted to share. Virginia adds to State Landmarks, names Byrd, one of my favorite parks to list. Richmond.com has the full list!

  2. Annie Tobey of the RTD did a nice job recapping the 2015 beer news. We gained Garden Grove, 7 Hills and had big things happening from just about everyone else (does a $28 million project in Goochland ring a bell? How about a rather popular west coast brewer?) Read on to relive the 2015 highlights!

  3. Martha Stewart knows a thing or two about cooking (and jail, but that’s not what this is about) and she named Richmond’s own Sweet Fix as one the best wedding cakes of 2015. RVA News can tell you the rest!

  4. Bon Appetit put out “An Actually Useful Guide to Richmond, VA” with the help of Lamplighter’s Andrew Huffman. Some more great exposure for our, not so little city.

  5. RVA News has the January Food News. From a tiny chef winning chopped from right here in RVA (really Moseley, but who’s counting) to the much anticipated opening of Boulevard, Burgers and Brews and Edo’s downstairs neighbor, the Hibachi Box. Read on to see what else is going on in the RVA culinary world!

  6. Style Weekly names the Richmond of the Year for its 30th Anniversary - The Ukrop Family. If you are from Richmond you know the name. It’s likely if you aren’t from Richmond you do as well. Either way, it’s worth the two page read on the family's history and current projects (one of my favorite places Quirk is a Ukrop development). I think all of us in Richmond thank the Ukrop family for their community initiatives!
