Richmond Restaurant Week: Spring 2016

Do you ever look at menus and wish you could order the most expensive thing? Restaurant Week makes that happen! You get to go to restaurants you (I) certainly could not afford and order an appetizer, entree and dessert all for $30. That is outrageous! You will not find a better deal. And, to top it off, $4 of every meal goes to charity, so you are eating for a good cause, which is always something I hope to do for a living.

This year, I ventured to The Bottom with my mom, sister and her boyfriend, Thomas. We went to Hard Shell. We sat on their quaint patio and my mom saw a Bloody Mary she couldn’t refuse. We all ordered drinks and started to ponder our menu options.

For restaurant week, you get to order three items, but you have to choose them all at the same time. So, my sister, mom and I started with the She Crab Soup, while Thomas did the lobster dip, next my mom and I got the lobster tail with mashed potatoes and asparagus, my sister and Thomas got the crab legs, shrimp, corn on the cob and potatoes. And just when we thought we couldn’t possibly eat more, out came the key lime pie for my sister, Thomas and I and the chocolate brulee for my mom. And my god did we all enjoy every last bite.

Is this not the most beautiful picture ever?

Restaurant Week is a Richmond tradition, now on its fifteenth year, Restaurant Week happens twice a year (spring and fall) and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for Feedmore. Started by the chef at Acacia, Restaurant Week has grown and now has over 40 participating restaurants. If you’ve never taken advantage of this great week, too bad it’s too late, but certainly participate in fall Restaurant Week which will be October 24 through 30.

Delicious She Crab soup with my favorite beer!
