Ever have that moment when you check your bank account and it laughs out loud at you? In that exact same moment are you about to rip your hair out if you have to stay in the house for one more minute? Same, same!
Well great news, while we have some awesome (i.e. more expensive) restaurants and activities in this city, there are also some wonderfully free or cheap options that can satisfy your need to socialize without breaking the bank.
The VMFA. It’s totally free to just spend hours wandering around. Bonus: air conditioning.
Sullivan’s $1 tacos from 3-7 Monday through Friday. Fill up your belly for like $3, or more, no one is judging how many tacos you can eat in one sitting! They also have drink specials.
Byrd Park. When it’s not oppressively hot outside, Byrd Park is beautiful to walk around.
Maymont. This, again, is totally free. They have beautiful gardens and some cool wildlife. I once saw a bald eagle being fed, so...nature!
Boka Tako’s Happiest Hour. $2 margaritas never hurt anyone, but they are only offered from 5-6 on weekdays.
So there you have it, a few ways to enjoy RVA for less than $20 a day. See y’all out there, because I’m no millionaire!

Fun at the VMFA - hey if I can bring my dog along, that's an added bonus!
