I really cannot believe summer is nearly over, while we will still have warm days, the nights will get cooler and the days a bit shorter. September is one of my favorite months, not only do we transition from summer to fall in a glorious way, the leaves will start to change, football season starts and it’s also my birthday month. Here are some of the things I am really looking forward to:
1st - Chesapeake Bank’s I Heart Happy Hour. A fun neighborhood event in my parent’s neighborhood.
3rd - Virginia Tech football opens their season with Liberty University at 12:30 pm.
5th - Labor Day. I plan to do no labor, just enjoy a day off and possibly a cold beverage by the pool.
10th - Bluegrass Festival at Hardywood. I love Bluegrass and I love beer. Sounds perfect!
10th - The Battle of Bristol! If you don’t know, it’s only the biggest college football game to ever happen.
11th - Shockoe on the Half Shell, an awesome festival dedicated to one of my favorite things - oysters!
17th - Virginia Tech plays Boston College at Lane Stadium. This is a sensitive one for us Hokies that remember 2007.
21st - Fall bocce starts back up. We just wrapped up summer season and while it’s nice to have a little break, I love running bocce and seeing new and old faces.
22nd - My birthday, presents not required (but appreciated).
24th - Virginia Tech plays ECU at Lane Stadium for our last home game in a few weeks.
29th - Ad Club Happy Hour, I love hanging out with my ad club peeps.

Blacksburg is my happy place.
A few other things I’m looking forward to:
Wearing my favorite chunky sweater on the first chilly evening.
Walking Phoebe around The Fan as the leaves start to change.
Red wine becoming more acceptable to drink because it’s getting a little cooler.
Opening my windows and turning off my AC.
