Looking back on 27

F*&! I’m 28.

Every year when my birthday rolls around, it gets me reflecting on my past year. Did I live my best life? Did I accomplish what I wanted? Of course there are positives and negatives, because that’s just how life works. (I know, I know, I’m wise in my old age.)

Positives in age 27:

  • Addison Clark. I’m at a job I absolutely love! I took the job when I was 26, but this past year I feel like I have really come into my position and felt comfortable at my company. I’m happy to continue to grow into my role and learn more and more everyday.

  • Ad Club. I love being part of an awesome board. We put on great events that bring industry professionals to a casual networking environment.

  • Phoebe. She’s just the best and makes me smile every day!

  • Living alone. Just me and my dog and I love it! I get to choose when to interact with people, I can’t get mad at anyone for their mess, because it’s my mess. I can choose to do the dishes everyday or leave them for a day. My choice. Plus, I get to decorate however I want (no weird posters of bands I don’t know about).

  • My family. We’ve been through alot this year and I love them so much. My dad is the strongest human I know, my mom is such a role model and my sister is my best friend.

  • My friends. I’ve had the same friends for so many years and I think that is such a blessing.

  • Richmond. I love this city! It’s so vibrant, ever evolving and really is home. I love the rooftop bars that have popped up this year and I love my staple dive bars that haven’t changed in decades.

Negatives in age 27:

  • This blog. I’ve been meaning to do more with it and just haven’t committed. I’d like to move it to a better platform and post more consistently.

  • Household projects. I have a pile of clothes that needs to go somewhere (consignment, Goodwill, garbage), two chairs that need to be painted and reupholstered, I want to make my kitchen table larger, I need a solution for my excess necklaces, the list goes on.

  • Relationship. Let’s just say I didn’t do too well in this department.

All in all, I have way more positives than negatives in my life so I can’t complain about the past year. But of course, there is always room for improvement! I’ll try to sort through the clothes pile, be better about my blog and maybe paint those chairs.

I’m looking forward to another year of life and seeing what it has in store for me. Cheers to 28! Now off to dance on one of those rooftops.

My best relationship is with my dog and life is pretty great with this gal!
