2017 Goals Update - March

I told y’all in February that I have monthly focus goals for myself. February was organization. I followed The January Cure from Apartment Therapy. While I did not get through it 100% I still found it valuable.

I found it hardest to complete the huge weekend projects. The small 30 minute tasks on the weekdays were much more achievable. I finished about 80% and feel pretty good about that. I am going to leave the calendar on my fridge and get to the remaining tasks when I can.

The thing I learned from the cure was to put things in my “outbox.” This fit in so perfectly with the minimalist talk from Creative Mornings on February 17th. I now look at items and try to decide if the object brings me happiness or serves a function, if it doesn’t - to the outbox it goes.

The other amen that came out this was to have small manageable goals. Having a task that didn’t take too long each night wasn’t something I dreaded. It was nice to check a task off the list without it taking hours.

For March my focus is fitness. I used to be really into barre and had a pretty solid routine, but I got a little burnt out and stopped seeing results after a while, not to mention my wallet need a break (I loved barre don’t get me wrong!). I realized I needed to add in new things. I tried doing my own thing at the gym for a few months, but that fizzled out. So no gym, no barre. I just stopped.

These bad boys are about to get a workout...during my workouts

The two main things I want to get out of my focus this month is get into a routine again and find fun ways to exercise. I joined Crunch today. I like that they offer a few classes along with my membership for only $20 a month. It is also very close to my work and house, so getting into that routine will be easier. I took yoga sculpt tonight. It was definitely different than what I am used to.

The other fun thing is that my friend Courtney is on this journey with me! We are planning on mixing it up with classes and our own workouts in the gym Monday through Thursday. We also want to do something different one weekend day; we are thinking things like take our dogs on a walk and outdoor yoga. We plan on re evaluating every so often to see what we need to change.

I am looking forward to restarting my fitness journey and having a companion along the way!
