Fitness Journal: March Goal Update

So my goal for March was to join a gym and establish a fitness routine. To go along with that, I thought I’d keep a “journal” about my “progress” (it’s been 15 days, progress is relative). I’m doing this with my friend Courtney and we have committed to go to the gym Monday through Thursday as a start. So here is my start:
Wednesday March 1 - Joined the gym. Took yoga class. Felt awkward but good that I started.
Thursday March 2 - Got up at 5:30am (been a looooong time since I woke up that early and meant to). Meet Courtney at 6am. Walked on the treadmill for a few minutes until she got there. We bumbled around for a minute. Did an ab video and used some weights and machines. Not super sore after. Pushup challenge. 10 regular, 9 girl.
Monday March 6 - Tried to go to BOSU Bootcamp at 6am. Teacher didn’t show up. Courtney couldn’t make it. I didn’t have headphones. Awkward. Walked on treadmill uphill for 10 minutes. Hamstrings felt that. Did some machines with arm focus. Ouch. 15 reps each. Did some abs. Working out without a friend or headphones sucks. Weighed myself today. YIKES. XXX (OF COURSE I’m not telling y’all the actual poundage) with clothes and shoes. Took Pheebs on 20 minute walk after work. The weather was nice.
Tuesday March 7 - 5:30am wakeup call. Got there a few minutes early. Walked on treadmill. Courtney arrived and we did a routine. Holy crap it was hard! 50 situps are no joke. We did 2 rounds. Sweating. Felt good though. 10 minute treadmill uphill to end it. Another 20 minute walk with Phoebe. I think she likes my renewed focus on my body.
Wednesday March 8 - 3 days in a row made it to the gym at 6am. Teacher showed up and took a BOSU Bootcamp class for 30 minutes. Cardio and strength focused. I liked it! Only took the one class today, but Courtney and I talked about staying for the second 30 minute class next Wednesday.
Thursday March 9 - 4 days in a row at 6am. Courtney and I were feeling rough. We decided to do the 8 minute ab video, machines for the arms and lots of stretching.
Friday March 10 - Rest day, still had to get up at 5:30am. No reward there.
Saturday March 11 - Rest day. Walked Phoebe only a block, it was freezing. WTH March!?
Sunday March 12 - Rest day. I think I’m taking too many. I need to go to the gym at least once a weekend I think.
Monday March 14 - Woke up for my 5:30am alarm. So stuffy. Skipped the gym this am in favor of sleeping that off. I feel a little better. Maybe I will go tonight...Still freezing in RVA.
Tuesday March 14 - I suck and used the icy roads as a reason to not go in today. Courtney was under the weather and couldn’t imagine it without her. Brought clothes to work to go after. Didn’t do that.
Wednesday March 15 - I didn’t go last night but did get up for my 5:30am alarm today! Went to TWO classes this morning - BOSU and Chisel. Felt pretty good. BOSU is good to get my heart rate up and chisel is good for weight training. Weighted myself. Down to XXX.
So there it is. Down and dirty. I am certainly no gym rat and obviously have some work to do to establish a routine. I am still exploring classes at the gym. I also still want to do out of gym things but the weather has not cooperated (aka I’m a sissy when it is cold). While it’s not perfect, I feel good that I started!
