This week I was busy with bocce, attending the member preview of YSL at the VMFA, trying a new workout and eating way too many nachos for Cinco de Mayo! Next week I’m headed to Charleston for part vacation and part wedding.
Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style
I’m sort of freaking out. This Thursday I went to a member preview lecture and exhibit walk through. It was so amazing. The lecture was delivered by Florence Muller, the curator. She inspired for a full hour and offered special anecdotes about YSL. The exhibit itself was overwhelming in awesomeness. This time I was not able to take it all in. There was so much to look at. I plan on heading back in about a week on a quiet Sunday morning (the best time to go walk the VMFA).

Nacho Mama’s for Cinco de Mayo
I don’t go crazy for Cinco de Mayo (anymore) but I do love any excuse for some Mexican food and a margarita! I met my mom after work at one of our favorite places - Nacho Mama’s. Nacho Mama’s is a Richmond institution. Located in Carytown, this place gives you a fun vibe and good food. Of course during Cinco de Mayo there was no chance of getting a table outside, so we settled for inside. They had $5 margarita specials and we got some amazing beef nachos. I also got a chicken and mushroom quesadilla, but had to take most of it home because naturally I filled up on chips.
Cyclebar at Greengate
In my quest for new fitness fun, (I’m not sure fun is the appropriate word, but whatever) I decided to try out the new Cyclebar for Real Food with Gratitude’s event. This class was hard, but I made it through. They would often flash your class rank up on the screen and I always fell in the last 8 EXCEPT when they ranked us by power and I was #2 for like 5 seconds. It was my shining moment! The instructor really did try to make it fun and engaging. It was tough, but I would do it again.
Richmond Kickers
Another Saturday, another Kickers game, but this time I got to bring Phoebe! It was the bark in the park event and so many dogs came. My friend Chase and I walked around for the pre-game, had a beer, met a ton of other dogs (he brought one too) and then settled in to watch the game. It was so cute seeing the dogs watch the game (Phoebe was interested in eating all the food that fell in the stands and finishing off everyone’s beer...a gal after my own heart). It’s Phoebe’s birthday today, so I think that was a good way to celebrate (she also got toys and some really smelly treat that is currently stinking up my apartment).

Red Smoke for a Kicker's score!
