I was thrown off by the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend and lost track of time, so this is two week worth of updates.

Where I've been fueling up:

Last Tuesday was my mom’s birthday and we took her to Conch Republic. We enjoyed some apps, crab bisque and our meals while watching a crazy storm from their awesome view. It’s a great place to have a couple beverages and chill out and enjoy the river.

I went to the Hardywood bocce league last Wednesday. They had Capital Trail on draft and it was glorious. It’s a seasonal beer so get it while you can. We also went to Boulevard, Burger and Brew to enjoy their delicious food.

Black Hand is my go to coffee shop for morning meetings. I have been interviewing for a few positions for the Ad Club and have been twice in the past two weeks. My order was the same. 20 oz dirty chai iced latte with soy and the bacon, egg, cheese on everything bagel.

On Friday we got off work early for the holiday weekend and I skipped over to the pool to enjoy vodka limeades and a club sandwich.

My family all went to a wedding Saturday and needed some recovery food on Sunday so we went to the new Don’t Look Back. I got the shrimp and the fish tacos. Both were excellent. I’m also a proud member of their margarita mug club now.

After DLB my sister and I headed to Tazza to enjoy a drink on their patio. We both ended up with the brunch punch and were not disappointed. My friend Kristie met up with us and we continued hopping around Scott’s Addition. We went to Lunch and Supper and split a bottle of rose then went to The Hof to enjoy some rooftop views.

This past Tuesday was my last Triple Crossing Bocce for awhile. I got my favorite pizza - the hot honey pepperoni. I also tried a new beer I really liked - Best Kept Secret.

Thursday was our Ad Club happy hour at the Graduate. They have an amazing view and the food they served was excellent.

Friday evening I went out with some friend to The Hof rooftop. I think it’s one of the most fun places in Scott’s Addition.

Saturday was a big day, I started with “breakfast” at the Greek Festival. I got the gyro (my go-to) and decided to try the new lamb chops they added this year. They were excellent. I hope they keep them on the menu. I polished everything off with a beer and calamari. The Greek Festival is my favorite RVA tradition. Later that day we had our bocce finals. So it was a big day for eating and drinking.

Sunday was another big day. My mom, sister and I went to Broad Appetit. It is a fun tradition we have started over the past couple of years. This festival gets all the best restaurants in the area and each serves a plate for $3. It’s a really fun way to try a bunch of different things. Of course there are beer and wine trucks, live music and all the cute dogs you could want to pet. We had some awesome food, but my favorite was the catfish nuggets and mac and cheese from Mama J’s.

After Broad Appetit, we always go get oysters (because who doesn’t oysters after a day of eating). Our favorite oyster shop wasn’t open yet, so we headed for Pearl in the Fan. It is one of our go to celebration restaurants. We got a couple dozen oysters and I got an excellent bloody mary. It was nice and spicy.

After such a day I was tired and didn’t feel like cooking, so I ordered some of my favorite pizza from Belmont Pizzeria. They have an awesome buffalo chicken pizza that is a real crowd pleaser.

What I've been reading up on:

Being a strong disbeliever in kale, I love this article.

And being a strong believer in butter I really appreciate this article.

I feel this girl on never washing your hair. (I only wash mine once a week.) I literally follow this exact routine (different products). I am glad there are others out there like me!

I love a good money saving article. The final piece of advice is “No is a full sentence.”

This house tour from Apartment Therapy. I love this little bungalow. She did a great job mixing vintage and modern.

What else:

Memorial Day was spent poolside with my sister. We belong to Westwood and have since we were children and it brings back great memories to be there.

Bocce finals at the Kickers Stadium. It’s always a fun event full of beer and friends. This year was a little rainy, but we still had an awesome time. We got to use their sky deck and played a few rounds of flip cup.
